Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 September 2026

1. Overview

Tupane Payments Ltd (“Tupane”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mobile-first buy-now-pay-later platform operating in Zambia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through usetupane.com and our waitlist and merchant application forms, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

This policy is written to be consistent with Zambia's Data Protection Act No. 3 of 2021. By submitting a form on this site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described below.

2. Information we collect

When you join the waitlist or apply as a merchant, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (the mobile money number linked to MTN MoMo or Airtel Money)
  • Business name (merchant applicants only)
  • The date and time you submitted the form

We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party advertising pixels on this site, and we do not collect payment card details, mobile money PINs, or your NRC number through this website.

3. How we use your information

  • To add you to the Tupane waitlist and contact you when early access opens
  • To evaluate and follow up on merchant partnership applications
  • To respond to enquiries you send us
  • To improve this website and understand demand for our service

We will never sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing or share it for advertising purposes.

4. Who we share it with

Form submissions are sent directly to Tupane's founding team at dabwitso@usetupane.com and are not routed to any CRM, spreadsheet, or marketing platform. To deliver that email reliably, we use Resend, an email-delivery provider, solely as our mail transport — it processes the message on our behalf and does not use your data for its own purposes.

We do not share your information with MTN, Airtel, partner merchants, or any other third party at the waitlist stage. If you go on to become a Tupane customer, a separate agreement will explain what account and transaction data is shared with mobile money providers and merchants to process payments.

We may disclose information if required to do so by Zambian law or a valid order from a competent authority.

5. Data retention

We keep waitlist and merchant application information for as long as needed to contact you about Tupane's launch, and delete it if you ask us to or if it is no longer needed for that purpose.

6. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Withdraw consent and opt out of further contact at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email dabwitso@usetupane.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Security

Form submissions are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We limit access to submitted information to the Tupane team members who need it to follow up with you.

8. Children's privacy

Tupane is intended for adults capable of entering a credit agreement in Zambia. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tupane grows. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.

10. Contact us
